Google’s cloud division is building a team to create services for developers focused on blockchain applications. CNBC writes about it, quoting Amit Zaveri, Vice President of Google Cloud.

“While the world is just beginning to embrace Web 3.0, this market is already showing great potential and many customers are asking us to increase our support for crypto-related industries and technologies,” he wrote in a letter to employees.

Zaveri said that Google plans to offer enterprise customers backend services that provide access to distributed ledger technology. However, the company does not want to be “directly part of the cryptocurrency wave.”

He announced that Google will develop a system to verify and record transactions that will simplify the process of creating and running blockchain nodes. Savery added that the tool can be used in third-party computing environments such as Amazon Web Services.

Recall that in January 2022, Google hired former PayPal CEO Arnold Goldberg to relaunch its payments division. The appointment is in line with the company’s strategy to merge with a number of financial services, including those focused on cryptocurrencies.
