Kering-owned premium brand Balenciaga has announced the possibility of paying with cryptocurrencies at its flagship stores in the United States and on an online platform, WWD reported.
Initially, the fashion house will start accepting Bitcoin and Ethereum. It is planned to expand the list of supported currencies and regions in the future.
Payment service has not yet been selected for implementation of the option in Balenciaga.
Regarding the volatility of digital assets, the company noted:
“Balenciaga thinks cryptocurrencies are long-term and price fluctuations are nothing new.”
Previously, a pilot project was initiated by Gucci, another fashion house from the Kering group, to accept payments in digital currencies in the United States. Customers can pay with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Wrapped Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, Shiba Inu, Dogecoin and five dollar stablecoins.
Recall that fashion brand Off-White, owned by LVMH, added the ability to pay for goods with cryptocurrencies in a number of European stores in April.
