Optimism developers have reduced the expected airdrop participant list by 17,000 addresses next month. About 14 million native tokens were intended, which were presented as participants in the Sibyl attack.

“Optimism is for humans, not ‘sibiles’. […] Goodbye brothers!” said the team.

The developers have not disclosed the release criteria.

The project team excluded those who wanted to participate in the so-called airdrop farming. In anticipation of this event, users open and use many wallets. dapps in the hopes of meeting the criteria for token distribution later on.

The 14 million OPs released will be proportionally distributed by the project among those not caught in this practice.

In April, the developers announced that participants in the first round of the airdrop will be OP Bridge users until June 23, 2021, and those who repeatedly interact with ecosystem projects between June 23, 2021 and March 25, 2022. Along with the other five criteria, 264,079 addresses were eligible for the OP request.

Within four years, the OP emission will reach 4.29 billion coins. As part of the airdrops, 19% of the total supply will be distributed, including 5% of the number – in the first round in late May-early June.

Recall that one well-known case of airdrop farming in the industry is related to Bridget Harris, an analyst at venture capital firm Divergence Ventures.

In May 2021, DeFi project Ribbon Finance carried out the distribution of tokens, but the assets were only unlocked in October. The developers set up the airdrop to allow “smaller contributors” to benefit more from the distribution.

Harris registered multiple wallets and started sending small transfers to the project address, eventually receiving over $2.4 million in RBN.

The Optimism team has previously raised $150 million at a valuation of $1.65 billion.
