During the investigation into the REvil hacker group case, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation seized large amounts of rubles, dollars, euros and cryptocurrencies. This was announced by Deputy Interior Minister Sergei Lebedev in an interview with Interfax.
According to him, 300 million rubles, 950,000 dollars, more than 1 million euros and 19.9 MTC were seized as part of the investigation.
He said that investigators carried out more than 50 inquiries and 26 searches, and 16 forensic and computer forensic examinations.
Lebedev added that the detained suspected REvil members may have been involved in the theft of funds from US citizens and companies.
Recall that in mid-January, the FSB announced the liquidation of the REvil group and the detention of its members. A court in Moscow has detained eight alleged hackers.
Experts named REvil (also known as Sodinokibi) one of the largest hacker groups in the world. He was behind the distribution of ransomware and took millions of dollars in ransoms from victims.
