Specialists of the State Special Communications Service of Ukraine announced a series of cyberattacks aimed at gaining access to Telegram accounts.

The attackers distribute messages among Ukrainian citizens with an alleged malicious link to the Telegram website, including the ability to intercept a one-time SMS code, to gain unauthorized access to accounts.

As a result, cybercriminals steal session data, contact list and chat history from Telegram.

The State Special Communications Service urged users not to click on suspicious links, as well as to set an additional password for two-step authentication in Telegram, along with an SMS code.

“In case of receipt of such messages, please urgently notify Ukraine’s cybersecurity services so that malicious web resources are immediately blocked,” the ministry said.
