Circle, operator of USD Coin (USDC), has added support for Polygon’s second-tier solution for using stablecoins on its payment platform.

Circle has automated the ability for users to transfer USDC to Ethereum to the Polygon network via the Polygon Bridge cross-chain protocol.

“Circle customers can deposit and withdraw to Polygon USDC using an account and API “Without having to use a cross-chain bridge by hand,” he said.

According to the company, it will take “a few seconds” to convert fiat currency to Polygon USDC and vice versa.

Circle noted that with the support Polygon provides through accounts and APIs, businesses and developers can access a variety of stablecoin use cases:

  • Trading on leading exchanges such as Binance and FTX;
  • Exchange, borrow and lend in DeFi protocols such as Aave and Uniswap;
  • accepting payments for NFT marketplaces and gaming platforms;
  • Instant programmable payments to users around the world.

Circle noted that Polygon USDC is the first “bridged” version of the stablecoin.

At the time of writing, USDC ranks second among “stable coins” in terms of capitalization, after Tether and USDT.

Data: CoinGecko.

The gap between them in terms of emission volume started to decrease rapidly from September 2020.

In January 2022, the supply of USDC on the Ethereum blockchain exceeded USDT for the first time.

As a reminder, USDC is also available on the Algorand, Solana, Stellar, Tron, Hedera Hashgraph, Avalanche, and Flow networks.
