Block CEO Jack Dorsey and rapper Sean Corey Carter, aka Jay-Z, started Bitcoin Academy. The courses offer free tuition to residents of the Marcy Houses social housing complex in Brooklyn.
According to Dorsey, the goal of the program is to prove that people with access to powerful financial instruments become more independent.
“This isn’t just about bitcoin. Foresight is about the local economy and self-confidence. Courses are free for all residents of Marcy, including children. And to make it even easier, we are providing devices and free connectivity to anyone who needs it,” he wrote.
The training program was developed in collaboration with Crypto Blockchain Plug and Black Bitcoin Billionaire.
Recall that in February 2021, Dorsey and Jay-Z launched a funding fund for bitcoin developers ₿trust.
