In 2008, someone using the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto revealed his creation, bitcoin, to the world. This cryptocurrency has caused an unprecedented revolution in our economy, but the true identity of its creator has never been revealed. Now there’s a new theory that promises to solve this mystery.
An HBO documentary has the answer. As noted on Politico, a new HBO documentary claims to find the answer to this unique mystery. The production is the latest work by Cullen Hoback, who was nominated for an Emmy and received critical acclaim for his series “Q: Into the Storm,” in which he revealed the identities of members of the Qanon group.
We will find out next week. The documentary will premiere next Tuesday at 21:00 EST (Wednesday at 03:00 in mainland Spain). Identity disclosure could have a unique impact on financial markets. The upcoming US elections may also be affected: Both candidates are positive about cryptocurrencies.
Satoshi is a billionaire. Bitcoin’s creator has control of (at least) 1.1 million Bitcoins, but it’s unclear whether he still has access to the keys that would allow him to access this wealth. The current value of these cryptocurrencies would be approximately $66 billion.
Reactivated wallets. Something interesting has happened in recent weeks. Several wallets used to store these cryptocurrencies have been dormant since 2009, but there is currently some movement in them. Approximately 250 Bitcoins ($15 million) were stolen from these wallets in the last two weeks. There is no evidence that these wallets remain with Nakamoto, but they have not moved since the early days of Bitcoin.
Where is Satoshi? Nakamoto’s true identity has always been a great mystery. Bitcoin’s creator often appeared via email and discussion forums, but disappeared completely in 2010 and it is unclear whether he is still alive.
Others couldn’t identify him. In 2014, a Newsweek journalist believed he had solved the mystery, but his theories were quickly debunked. The same thing happened in 2016, when Justice made it clear that cryptographer Craig Wright, who declared himself the creator of Bitcoin, was not. This expert is currently indicted on perjury charges.
