Elon Musk said at a general virtual meeting of social networking workers that it makes sense to integrate digital payments into Twitter. CoinDesk writes about it.

“Right now money is largely digital and has been for a while. It would make sense to integrate payments into Twitter to make it easier to send money,” said the billionaire.

At the end of April, Tesla and SpaceX’s founder agreed to buy Twitter for $44 billion, while Musk made a takeover offer to the company’s management in the middle of the month.

The entrepreneur declared his intention not out of a desire to make money, but to create an “inclusive arena for freedom of speech”.

Initially, the Twitter board viewed Musk’s proposal negatively, but later revised its position.

In May, the billionaire suspended the acquisition process due to reports of inflated social media viewership numbers. During the conversation, he said that the number of daily active users of Twitter should reach 1 million per day. Their numbers in the first quarter were 229 million.

Recall that in September 2021, the social network added the ability to send donations in bitcoin. In February, this option was implemented for Ethereum.

In April, Musk proposed allowing users to pay for Twitter Blue subscriptions in a meme cryptocurrency, Dogecoin.
