Cloudflare Global Crash Hits Bitcoin Exchanges

On June 21, network service provider Cloudflare warned of a global outage for its services. Cryptocurrency exchanges experienced technical problems.

The American company provides CDN services, DDoS protection, secure access to resources and DNS servers.

Amid the Cloudflare outage, FTX warned that many users are having trouble accessing its site. The platform turned the markets into post-only positions.

Bitfinex CTO Paolo Ardoino also confirmed that problems with internet services are affecting the site like many other online platforms.

Coinbase reported difficulties connecting to its network of retail and institutional marketplaces.

The exchange warned investors that “This could lead to failed transactions, delayed transactions and unexpected scenarios on the web page and mobile apps.”

OKX CEO Jay Hao wrote to users that the inability to visit the exchange’s website is likely due to Cloudflare’s problems.

“It looks like the global shutdown of the internet, soon everything will be back to normal. Are there any future Web3 alternatives?” he added.

One of the users reported that the failure affected the European bitcoin exchange WhiteBit and the PancakeSwap DeFi protocol, as well as the Discord platform, which is popular in the crypto community.

Recall that in October 2021 there was a malfunction in DNS records that affected Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Twitter, Amazon Web Services and others.
