On June 28, the Ronin sidechain featured in the blockchain game Axie Infinity will be rebooted after a massive $625 million hack.
Sky Mavis, the company behind the projects, said all users will be refunded.
“Our engineering team is working hard to prepare the bridge for opening,” the developers said.
They added that restarting Ronin would require a network fork, so all validators should update their software.
In March, attackers took control of five of the nine validator nodes and withdrew nearly $625 million worth of crypto assets.
The team reported that hackers used social engineering to gain unauthorized access to assets. They carried out the attack in December 2021.
Initially, the developers were expected to restart the network in the middle or end of May.
On June 21, they reported that the protocol was audited by Certik experts with “minor comments”. According to them, it was the behavior of the control that delayed the reboot of the Ronin.
Recall that in April Sky Mavis launched a bounty program to find vulnerabilities in the ecosystem. The size of the reward for bugs found in the blockchain and smart contracts will range from $1,000 to $1 million, depending on their severity.
