Cryptocurrency broker Voyager Digital has issued a notice of default for its Three Arrows Capital (3AC) fund due to non-payment of a loan. This is stated in the press release.
The broker loaned 3AC for 15,250 BTC (over $323.4 million at the time of writing) and 350 million USDC. On June 24, the company requested to settle part of the 25 million USDC debt, and then demanded to repay the entire loan in BTC and stablecoin by June 27.
“Voyager plans to cover losses from 3AC and is discussing existing solutions with advisors,” the platform said.
According to the report, Voyager continues its work. As of June 24, 2022, the broker holds approximately $137 million in fiat currency and digital assets.
On June 22, Voyager Digital agreed with Sam Bankman-Fried’s Alameda Research for a 200 million USDC loan and a 15,000 BTC revolving line of credit. The firm stressed that they still have access to these funds.
“We are diligently and rapidly working to explore options to strengthen our balance sheet and continue to meet our clients’ liquidity needs,” said Steven Erlich, Voyager CEO.
In May 2022, Alameda Research became the lead investor in a $60 million funding round for Voyager Digital. In June, Bankman-Fried said the FTX exchange he led should “intervene” in the midst of the crisis and help other industry players.
Recall that on June 23, Voyager Digital lowered the daily withdrawal limit from $25,000 to $10,000 due to issues with 3AC.
