Lightning Labs developers have released a beta version of the LND client for the Lightning Network that supports some of the latest bitcoin protocol enhancements, including Taproot.

In addition to the ability to trade from addresses in Taproot format, LND version 0.15 includes solutions such as:

  • New remote procedure call (RPC) methods to support MuSig2 experimental multisignature;
  • It reduced the database size by approximately 95% by reducing the amount of information stored in the callback logs. This helps save disk space;
  • improved pathfinding variable that allows payments to reach the lowest cost destination faster;
  • A new neutrino subserver that extends app developer tools.

Lightning Labs Chief Product Development Specialist Michael Levine stated that LND 0.15 helps make the Lightning Network more “reliable, durable and secure.”

According to him, more than 50 participants participated in the release of the new version of the client, which is a record figure in the entire history of the project.

The Taproot update was activated on the Bitcoin network in November 2021.

Recall that in April the Lightning Labs team introduced the Taro protocol to launch stablecoins on the Lightning Network.
