On June 30, the cryptocurrency news portal Bits.media was unavailable to users of most major Russian providers due to blocking by Roskomnadzor.

The agency entered five anonymous pages of the site on the register of prohibited sources to disseminate information “aimed at promoting crimes in the field of legalization (laundering) of proceeds from crime.”

The blocking decision was made on the basis of the decision of the Volzhsky District Court of the city of Saratov dated April 28 in the prosecutor’s case. The case was considered only by the judge, without the presence of the owners of the blocked Internet resource.

According to Ivan Tikhonov, the founder of Bits.media, they do not know what the cause of the lawsuit was – the editors were not informed about the lawsuit.

They want to appeal the decision.

Recall that this is not the first time Bits.media has been blocked in Russia. In January 2015, the resource later on the btcsec.com domain was also blocked without notice. The editors of the news portal appealed the decision.

In early March 2020, RKN blocked the forum of the same name for disseminating prohibited information. Access to the forum in 2021 decided to close the Kyiv Goloseevsky court. The ban was later lifted.

On April 11, Roskomnadzor restricted access to the ForkLog website from the territory of the Russian Federation.
