Samson Moe’s new venture JAN3 has raised $21 million in seed funding at a $100 million valuation, as Blockstream’s former chief strategy officer said at the Bitcoin 2022 conference, CoinDesk reported.

“JAN3 will focus on developing second-tier solutions like Bitcoin and Liquid and Lightning, which are key to adopting mainstream cryptocurrency and building a circular economy. The company will also support my initiatives to implement bitcoin at the national level and make expert contributions to infrastructure development projects.”

Investors in the project include F2Pool co-founder Chun Wang and El Zonte Capital, an investment firm founded by Max Kaiser and Stacey Herbert.

JAN3 will operate the Raretoshi NFT marketplace alongside Blockstream’s AQUA and Green wallets. The startup signed a memorandum of understanding with the government of El Salvador – it will become one of the providers of the country’s cryptocurrency infrastructure.

In March 2022, Moe announced that he was leaving Blockstream. According to him, he decided to focus on the national promotion of bitcoin.

Recall that Moe worked on the architecture of El Salvador’s bitcoin bonds, which the country started in partnership with Blockstream and iFinex (the parent company of Bitfinex and Tether).
