The assets of these companies will have to be liquidated at some point to partially offset their outstanding liabilities. Uncertainty about the size and timing of these asset sales hangs like a cloud on the market.
According to them, the developing situation in the crypto money market is “not different from the examples in the textbooks”. Over-leveraged financial companies have been penalized in bear markets for “hundreds of years.”
