Cryptocurrency exchange Binance has been licensed as a digital asset market service provider in Spain. Part of Moon Tech Spain has registered with the country’s Central Bank.
Hi Espana! 🇪🇸#Binance Registered by the Bank of Spain as a Virtual Asset Services Provider (VASP) for its Spanish subsidiary.
This will allow Binance to offer crypto-asset exchange and custody services in Spain in accordance with the central bank’s AML and CTF rules.
The company can offer service in full compliance with AML and CTF regulations throughout Spain. The regulator will also monitor compliance with business and professional reputation standards.
Evaluation of the application began on 28 January.
Spain is the third jurisdiction in the EU, after France and Italy, where Binance has also received approval from local regulators.
In September 2021, CEO Changpeng Zhao announced the rejection of the “decentralized” business model.
Recall that in 2022, approval for the operation of the exchange was given by the free financial district authorities of Bahrain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Binance also announced the launch of a regulated exchange in Thailand and the opening of a customer service center in Turkey.
Earlier, Zhao had announced his intention to seek approval from the British FCA.
