Peter Welle, one of the main developers of Bitcoin Core, has requested an exception for direct access to the code of the first cryptocurrency.

The expert explained that he will not refuse to work on the code, comment and participate in the projects in which he is involved. His address will be removed from the list of trusted contacts who can make changes to Bitcoin Core.

The list of key bitcoin developers will continue to be represented by Vladimir van der Laan, Marco Falke, Michael Ford and Gennady Stepanov.

Velle has been working on developing Bitcoin Core since May 2011 and has made thousands of commits during that time.

Among the important changes:

  • BIP32 – adding seed phrases;
  • SegWit (BIPs 49) is a more efficient way of storing data in blocks;

Taproot (BIPs 340, 341 and 342) – Increase network privacy, efficiency and scalability.

Recall that at the end of June, the developers of Lightning Labs released a beta version of the LND client for the Lightning Network, which supports some of the latest Bitcoin protocol developments, including Taproot.

Earlier, the startup team introduced the Taro protocol to launch stablecoins on the Lightning Network.
