South Africa to launch water distribution on blockchain

South African company H20 Securities has raised $150 million from GEM Digital through the sale of the H20N token, which provides blockchain-powered freshwater resources.

“Water is the most important commodity in the world and it is critical for humanity that we manage it,” said Julius Stein, Head of Securities at H20.

According to him, the combination of the strengths of traditional and decentralized finance will ensure affordable and fast water supply.

Shell launches blockchain platform for fuel trading

Oil company Shell has launched a blockchain-based Avelia platform for the sale of carbon-neutral aviation fuel. Reported by Business Green.

The initiative was launched in partnership with consulting firm Accenture and travel agency Amex FMT.

The platform will bring together carbon credit providers for jet fuel, airlines and cargo carriers in a single ecosystem. Blockchain will ensure data security and transparency.

The sale of carbon credits will contribute to the “decarbonization” of the industry and the transition of airlines to sustainable fuels.

Italy to allocate $46 million for blockchain projects

The Italian Ministry of Economic Development will allocate $46 million in state subsidies to companies developing projects based on blockchain.

Applications will begin in September 2022. Each company can expect an amount of between 500,000 and 2 million euros, provided the funds are used in certain sectors such as healthcare.

Italian Minister of Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti, announced that the government is promoting the modernization of production systems through “increasingly interconnected, efficient, secure and fast” management models.

Tata Steel will implement a blockchain to track steel supplies

British steelmaker Tata Steel has partnered with iov42 to work on a blockchain solution to track steel supply chains.

One of the main goals of the initiative is a digital passport that includes receiving feedback from Tata Steel customers.

Richard Clarke, the company’s new product development manager, said the firm will explore the possibilities of blockchain to “overcome existing barriers” in its steel business.
