The agreement includes the opening of a virtual branch of KEB Hana on The Sandbox metadatabase to provide core banking services and encourage investment.
“Metaverses are a way for people to interact on the Web3, and we want to be part of the new trend. This partnership could open the door to a whole new type of service, especially for the younger generation,” said Chung Kim, Vice President of KEB Hana.
Founded in 1967, KEB Hana is one of South Korea’s largest commercial banks. According to a press release, the company has 199 branches in 24 counties, which is more than any other bank in the country.
Recall that in April, the Hong Kong division of financial giant Standard Chartered purchased a site on The Sandbox to explore the possibilities of a new space.
In March, the UK’s largest bank HSBC purchased virtual land in the same metaverse to engage service providers and engage the sports community.
