US-based brokerage firm M1 Finance has announced the addition of the ability to trade ten digital assets without paying commissions.
The service will launch in the “next few weeks”. Initially, support is provided for Bitcoin, Ethereum, and “other large-volume liquid assets”.
Firm founder Brian Barnes attributed the addition of the service to a strong need from customers interested in diversification.
“About half of the users we surveyed wanted to invest in cryptocurrencies” explained.
Founded in 2015, M1 Finance has $5 billion in client assets. It offers online brokerage, commission-free stock and ETF trading and retirement account management.
One of M1 Finance’s key offerings is the allocation of capital into thematic portfolios.
The service is of interest to customers with a passive investment orientation. It is powered by algorithmic software that automatically balances each component of a stock based on initial investment strategy or asset allocation.
