French financial conglomerate BNP Paribas will launch a digital asset custody service. This is reported by CoinDesk citing its own sources.

Metaco, the Swiss custodian for institutional investors, will become the bank’s partner. In June, Citigroup announced that it was working with the firm to create a platform for storing and managing digital currencies.

Metaco is also a partner in similar ventures of Societe Generale, BBVA, DBS and UnionBank Philippines.

In many cases, institutions focus less on transactions with security tokens such as digitized shares and other financial instruments, with less emphasis on cryptocurrencies.

According to Metaco CEO Adrien Treccani, this strategy has become a popular trend among French banks.

Recall that in 2020, the British banking giant Standard Chartered invested in the custodian.
