Mining company Marathon Digital Holdings has provided around 254 MW of power for its bitcoin mining operations as a result of new agreements with various hosting providers.

“With these new arrangements, we believe we now provide sufficient hosting capacity to support our goal of achieving approximately 23.3 EH/s of computing power for Bitcoin mining by 2023,” said Fred Thiel, Chairman and CEO of Marathon.

One of the firm’s deals was a contract with Applied Blockchain to provide around 200 MW for deployed miners. The provider will host approximately 66,000 devices at its facilities in Texas (90 MW) and North Dakota (110 MW), with a total hash rate of approximately 9.2 EH/s.

As part of the deal, Applied Blockchain has given Marathon the option to add an additional 70 MW of capacity in its data center in North Dakota if needed.

Both hosting provider businesses are under construction. Installation of the miners on them is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2022 and full rollout is expected to be completed in the middle of the next.

Marathon also expanded its agreement with Compute North with an additional 42 MW of capacity at the provider’s facility near Granbury, Texas. This will allow another 14,000 miners to be deployed in the data center. The total number of devices will be approximately 26,000 units with a hash rate of 3.6 EH/s.

It is planned that the entire equipment volume will be put into operation by the end of 2022.

In addition to these arrangements, Marathon has secured an additional 12 MW of hosting capacity through agreements with many other providers. The company expects to install around 4,000 bitcoin miners with a hashrate of 0.8 EH/s at its facilities in the coming months.

“Each of these facilities is currently under construction, which is critical to accelerating deployment. The first miners to be deployed under these new regulations are scheduled to be installed in August,” Thiel said.

Recall that the hurricane that hit Montana in June damaged the power station in Hardin, which disabled 75% of Marathon’s active mining capacities.

This was one of the main reasons for the company’s 44% drop in bitcoin mining in one month.
