In November, the Matter Labs team will launch the zkSync 2.0 layer 2 scaling solution on the Ethereum mainnet for a limited number of users.

Today, we are happy to announce that the first zkEVM rollup, zkSync 2.0, will be released on the mainnet in 100 days.

“Over the past year, we have worked hard to scale Ethereum and accelerate its adoption. Today we are happy to announce that the first zkEVM rollup, zkSync, will appear on the mainnet in 100 days,” the developers wrote.
zkSync is a layer 2 solution based on zero-knowledge proof protocol compatible with EVM. It uses the ZK-Rollups method to reduce the load on the mainnet by dividing transactions into groups.
Since the project supports EVM, dapp developers will be able to create and deploy smart contracts in an environment compatible with Ethereum’s native programming languages Solidity and Vyper.
Launching the solution on the mainnet will consist of several stages.
In November, the team will make zkSync 2.0 available without external projects. Matter Labs explained that this was necessary to test the system.
“We will put the system through a series of stress tests with real money. They will help us make sure that everything is working correctly and performing the expected functions,” he says.
Developers will then submit the project’s code base for audit, publish the whitepaper, and complete other necessary preparations. After that, access to zkSync 2.0 will be given to a limited group of users.
The public alpha version of the solution will be released before the end of 2022.
Earlier, Matter Labs placed zkSync 2.0 on the testnet of the second largest cryptocurrency by capitalization.
Recall that Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin called the ZK-Rollups technology the central element of the blockchain scaling concept.
