The Tor Project’s home page has been unblocked by a court order in the Russian Federation. This was announced by the lawyer of “Roskomsvoboda” Ekaterina Abashina, who represented the interests of the organization during the trials.

“Roskomnadzor, of course, improperly delayed the unblocking of the site because the blocking decision was rescinded on May 19, and since then there was no reason to find the Tor Project in the banned information log,” he said.

In addition, the Google company, which was involved in the lawsuit that required the browser to be removed from Google Play, also asked for the lawsuit to be postponed. The court adjourned the meeting.

Recall that the blocking of Tor in the Russian Federation began to unravel in early December. The official basis for restricting access was the 2017 decision of the Saratov District Court.

Roskomsvoboda objected to blocking lawyers. In May, the Court of Appeal overturned the Saratov court’s decision.

On July 15, the Tor Project team introduced an updated version of the browser focused on bypassing the blocking.
