Blockdaemon Acquires Asset Security Company Sepior

Enterprise-focused blockchain infrastructure company Blockdaemon has acquired Danish startup Sepior.

The financial terms of the acquisition of the digital asset security firm were not disclosed.

It is assumed that Sepior’s technology for the protection and security of cryptographic keys will allow it to integrate transaction management, nodes and liquid staking through a non-custodial solution on a single platform.

“The integration of key management will connect the various components of the platform, particularly staking and rebalancing. This will increase security and speed in the market for customers in the segment. B2B2C“, says the description.

Also, Sepior’s solutions are designed to make it easier for users to connect to blockchains. In addition, the startup will provide custody and non-custodial digital asset wallet capabilities.

Startup technologies based on algorithms MPC solves the “single point of failure” issue faced by many crypto key management services. The company recalled that investors lost more than $3.2 billion in assets as a result of the latter’s abuse or theft in 2021.

“The ability to securely store private keys is a cornerstone of the multi-billion dollar institutional crypto finance industry,” said Konstantin Richter, founder and CEO of Blockdaemon.

The Sepior team joined the company, and former CEO Ahmet Tuncay led the MPC Digital Asset Security division.

Blockdaemon notes that this is the fourth acquisition two years after Gem, Anyblock Analytics, and Lunie.

Recall that in January the company closed its $207 million Series C funding round at a valuation of $3.25 billion.
