In Russia, banks will need to register their customers biometrically
Russian banks will be required to register new customers in applications with IDs through a single biometric system. Violators will be prohibited from issuing loans and making deposits to citizens.
According to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, comments on the document will be accepted until July 28, 2022. The decree will enter into force ten days after its publication.
Israel invests more than $580 million in artificial intelligence
In the next few years, Israel will allocate about 580 million dollars to the development of artificial intelligence.
The Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology presented the national AI program. The plan includes:
introducing technology to improve service delivery in the public sector;
increase the number of research in data science and artificial intelligence;
application of artificial intelligence in industry;
access to databases for research and development in artificial intelligence;
address regulatory and ethical issues in the use of technology;
Promoting international cooperation in the field of AI.
A neural interface has been placed in the human brain for the first time in the USA.
Synchron was the first company in the United States to embed a neural interface into the human brain. The Stentrode system is designed to assist people with paralysis.

Doctors implanted the device into the patient’s motor cortex using endovascular surgery. The operation went “very well” and the man returned home 48 hours later, according to the company.
Synchron also reported on the “success” of the Australian study, in which participants felt “good” a year after the neural interfaces were installed.
Tesla Will Raise the Cost of Fully Autonomous Driving
Tesla will increase the cost of the Full Self-Driving beta by the end of 2022. So far, the system has been deployed at a price of $12,000.
According to the company’s CEO, Elon Musk, the value of FSD is extremely high and not fully understood by most people. Currently, the cost of the beta system is “ridiculously low,” assuming full autopilot will be implemented in the future, he added.
DALL-E Image Generator Enters Public Beta
OpenAI has launched the beta version of the DALL-E text-based renderer. In the coming weeks, the model will be available to 1 million people on the waiting list.
After signing up, users will receive 50 free image credits for the first 30 days, and 15 more credits each month thereafter. An additional 115 credits can be purchased for $15.
The company also announced the expansion of usage rights for DALL-E generations. Users can now print neuroimages on t-shirts and children’s books or use them for other commercial purposes.
Shopify Showcases Apple’s RoomPlan API
Shopify developers demonstrated the Apple RoomPlan API AR technology for creating 3D models of spaces. The system works on iPhone and iPad devices with built-in lidar.

Using one of the RoomPlan API options, the engineer was able to remove all furniture from the room, including moving objects. Alan says the “reload” feature will come in handy for e-commerce sites.
Microsoft introduced a simulator for drone training
Microsoft launched AirSim flight simulator for drone training.
The system allows companies to create and train AI systems responsible for controlling drones. Developers can conduct flight tests in various locations and weather conditions.
According to Microsoft, AirSim generates millions of simulations in seconds.
Nvidia’s neural network has learned to create three-dimensional objects from 2D images
Enthusiasts showed off examples of Nvidia’s Instant NeRF neural network. Most of the original shots were made with smartphones without using a drone.

On the fly, NeRF creates 3D versions of objects or spaces from multiple 2D photos. The algorithm matches the colors and light intensities of images taken from different angles and then generates data to link the images together and create the finished 3D scene.
Robodog learned to walk on its own in 60 minutes
Engineers have developed a robot that can walk in 60 minutes without training in computer simulation.

Researchers at the University of California at Berkeley used reinforcement learning. They developed the Dreamer algorithm, which uses past experiences to create a model of the world around it and predict the outcome of possible actions.
According to scientists, a virtual training simulator will never be as accurate as reality. Dreamer will help robots learn new skills and adapt to unexpected situations.
Scientists have created an AI sommelier
Researchers from the US National Institute of Standards and Technology created a sommelier neural network to determine the grade and variety of wine. The accuracy of the model is 95.3%.
The developers trained the algorithm on the characteristics of 148 wines from three grape varieties. They considered 13 parameters for each beverage, including strength, colour, alkalinity and magnesium content.
The researchers tested the neurosommelier on 178 wine sets, including those used in training and previously unknown.
