In partnership with the Moonbeam project team DEX Osmoz made it possible to exchange tokens between the Polkadot and Cosmos ecosystems.
The infrastructure of the cross-chain solution was provided with the Axelar protocol. The project supports a cross-chain bridge and smart contract interoperability platform. The first allows you to transfer tokens between networks, and the second allows you to deploy DeFi applications on different blockchains.
According to the announcement, Polkadot Native Token (DOT) will be the first ecosystem asset available on Osmosis. Moonbeam hopes to expand its list of cryptocurrencies in the future.
“This integration with Axelar is an important step forward in bringing unified liquidity and user experience to Web3 as well as enabling cross-chain interoperability,” the post states.
Osmosis co-founder Sunny Aggarwal said in an interview with Blockworks that she does not see Polkadot and Cosmos as competitors. According to him, these are just “different frameworks for deploying decentralized applications”.
“The purpose of creating these interoperability protocols is not just to interact in small ecosystems. Polkadot is a big space with many interesting assets. Our plan is to continue to connect every possible ecosystem,” Aggarwal added.
Recall that the Moonbeam project received a Polkadot parachute mount in November 2021 as a result of the second auction.
