The Optimism team developed Drippie, a programmable Ethereum transaction automation system that executes transactions in response to certain conditions.

Drippie is essentially a native Ethereum version of If This Then That (IFTTT), a programmable Web2 service that can combine different triggers with actions.

According to the developers, the mechanism can perform most of the typical operations required for Optimism to work. This includes, for example, maintaining a balance in various accounts to move funds between the L1 and L2 levels.

Drippie runs on top of the Gelato automation protocol. At the same time, the system independently funds the account required to pay for transactions.

The developers noted that the mechanism not only simplifies Optimism’s interaction with the main Ethereum network and other chains, but also improves security. Drippie allows you to hold the minimum required amount of funds in operational hot wallets, reducing the potential damage if compromised.

In addition to Gelato, the team plans to integrate similar solutions such as Chainlink Keepers and OpenZeppelin Defender AutoTasks, which are backup automation channels.

Drippie is open source under the MIT license.

Recall that the optimism team abandoned the “whitelist” concept in December, opening access to the network to all developers.
