Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) partner Chris Dixon has joined the board of leading NFT marketplace OpenSea. This was announced by the co-founder and CEO of the company Devin Finser.

“I am pleased to formally invite Chris Dixon to the OpenSea Board of Directors. Chris has been a huge influence in shaping my views on Web3,” said Finser.

Dixon will replace former a16z partner Kathy Hawn, who joined OpenSea’s board of directors in July 2021. Then the market raised $100 million in a round led by Andreessen Horowitz.

At the end of the year, it was learned that Haun had left the venture company for the sake of her own project.

“Kathy has been an invaluable source of wisdom for OpenSea over the years. And thanks to his longstanding relationship with Chris, he was able to make a smooth transition through Haun Ventures and stay with us as an investor.”

In January 2022, the company closed a $300 million Series C funding round led by Paradigm and Coatue at a valuation of $13 billion.

Forbes has named OpenSea as one of the most innovative private fintech companies in 2022.

Recall that in July, Finser announced a 20% reduction in staff, announcing the decision with an “unprecedented combination of crypto winter and extensive macroeconomic instability.”
