Socios platform owner Chiliz has invested $100 million in NFTs and the FC Barcelona metaversal.
It acquired a 24.5% stake in Barça Studios, the digital content creation division of the Spanish football giant.
According to Socios representatives, the deal aims to enhance the club’s Web3 ecosystem, including new products and features.
Recall that in 2020, Barcelona decided to issue coins for fans.
In March 2022, the football club announced its plans to create its own cryptocurrency.
That same month, Chiliz launched the Chiliz Chain 2.0 blockchain testnet, developed in collaboration with the Ankr project.
