On July 27, 2022, the military made a demonstration of the devices and later released several images showing staff operating two robot dogs at the station.
According to the Space Force, the devices are designed for “manual and repetitive tasks” as well as “damage detection, patrolling, and significant man-hour savings.”
The robots are made by Philadelphia-based company Ghost Robotics.
“They are unstoppable, able to quickly stand up after any slip, fall or malfunction, and keep moving using our patented blind operations,” the developers said.
The robots are equipped with visual and auditory sensors, can be controlled by one person or work independently.
In November 2020, the same devices began to be used by the US Air Force.
“This robot will be used as an amplifier to increase situational awareness by patrolling areas undesirable for dogs, people and vehicles,” said Jordan Criss, commander of the 325th Security Forces Squadron.
Cape Canaveral is located on Florida’s Atlantic coast. In addition to the US Air Force station, the Kennedy Space Center is also located here. These sites are used to launch spacecraft.
Recall that the Englishman, who lost his hard drive with 7500 BTC in July, announced his intention to include two robots from Boston Dynamics in the search.
In October 2021, scientists taught Spot how to interact with nuclear waste at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
In February, the NYPD sent a Boston Dynamics robot to the scene. Spot was later “fired” by law enforcement due to backlash from politicians and the public.
