During the next call, Ethereum’s leading developers brought the approximate date of the blockchain transition a few days closer to the Proof-of-Stake consensus algorithm.

The Ethereum mainnet merge is tentatively scheduled for around September 15/16.

“The activation of Join on the Ethereum mainnet is tentatively scheduled for September 15-16,” said Anthony Sassano, co-founder of EthHub.

During the call, the developers acknowledged that the Bellatrix pre-merger upgrade will take place on September 6 at the age of 144896.

The actual activation of Merge will occur with the Paris update when the cumulative network difficulty indicator (TTD) reaches 5875000000000000000000000. This will happen around September 15.

However, these dates are not exact – the timing of the upgrade can affect the spacing between blocks, changing fluctuations in the Ethereum network’s hash rate.

A little less than a month ago, the developers tentatively scheduled the blockchain’s transition to PoS for September 19, 2022.

Today, August 11, the Ethereum team successfully migrated the Goerli testnet to the new algorithm. It was kind of a final rehearsal for The Merge before it aired on the mainnet.
