On the Altcoin Daily podcast, Billionaire Mark Cuban called it the “stupidest” idea of buying land, mansions and other real estate in virtual worlds.
In his view, such a model is not viable because of the possibility of creating an unlimited number of houses, clubs, and other structures in metaverses.
“Once you build a community, not before, you will be able to find places depending on your device that may have a generally accepted value because of access. [к чему-то уникальному] or something else. But before that, the traditional real estate model [в метавселенных] “Stupid bullshit,” Cuban explained.
The investor added that the creators of metaverses make good money on this, but without a community such projects are useless.
“They call it real estate but it’s really just an access token. Just a marketing terminology,” the billionaire said.

In February, Italian fashion house Gucci bought a virtual lot on The Sandbox metaverse.
Previously, land in the same project adjacent to American rapper Snoop Dogg had been sold for 70,903 SAND ($458,038 at the time of the deal).
Recall that Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin said that companies’ attempts to create a metadata are doomed to failure.
