The Solana Foundation and venture capital firm Jump Crypto have joined forces to create a validator client to improve the decentralization and performance of the Solana blockchain.

The open source software called Firedancer will be based on C++. It will complement the already launched client from Solana Labs, based on Rust. Development is scheduled to be completed in the next 12-24 months. The company welcomes community involvement in the process.

The initiative is designed to increase the stability of the network in case of problems with one of the client types, as well as to reduce the share of staked assets supporting one or another software.

Representatives of the venture company assured that they would take a performance-oriented approach to development. Solana’s efficiency is currently limited by software inefficiencies, not hardware, they said.

“The participation of Jump Crypto will solidify the state of the blockchain as the best place to build. Web3 expanding to one billion users”, – stressed Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana.

Recall that Jump Crypto acts as an investor in the DEX Serum teams, Phantom wallet, Pyth oracles and Wormhole cross-chain bridge rounds. The company supported the latest project by donating $320 million in February 2022 after it was hacked.

In June 2021, the firm joined the $314 million Solana Labs round.
