On August 20, a rally will be held in Amsterdam to support Alexey Pertsev, the developer of the Tornado Cash cryptocurrency mixer, who was arrested in the Netherlands last week.
Authorities suspect he was involved in money laundering and concealing criminal financial flows through service.
Pertsev’s arrest sets a dangerous precedent for holding open-source software developers accountable if these products are misused, according to the startup group.
“The developer has no control over how the open source code is then used. Therefore, the accusations against Alexey Pertsev threaten to kill the entire segment of such software, ”they wrote.
The rally will begin at 16:00 in Dam Square. Additional information can be found in the Telegram group.
