We strive not only to inform readers about events in the bitcoin industry, but also to talk about what is happening in the relevant technological fields – cybersecurity and artificial intelligence (AI) world.

ForkLog AI gathered the most important news from the world of AI last week.

  • Sber may sell its smart device development division due to sanctions.
  • “Nova Poshta” and the State Emergency Service will develop a digging robot.
  • TSMC will start producing 3nm processors in September 2022.
  • Tesla owners have been asked not to test Autopilot technology on children.
  • Google will update the “Search” feature to combat clickbait and irrelevant reviews.
  • TikTok has introduced a background generator for video by text.
  • Scientists have developed a nanorobot from DNA.
  • The most important operations in AI.

Media: Sber to sell smart device development division

Sber may sell its smart device development division to SberDevices due to difficulties due to sanctions.

According to Kommersant, the bank has expanded its product portfolio, announcing the changes, removing the Sber prefix from the company’s name. But the newspaper’s sources believe that Sberbank allowed the sale of the unit due to sanctions restrictions on access to foreign components and technologies.

According to the publication, on the backdrop of difficulties, employees have already begun to leave SberDevices.

“Nova Poshta” will develop digging robots

The postal operator “Nova Poshta” and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine will create digging robots.

The company plans to develop at least 40 devices to find and clear mines in bodies of water and on land.

According to the estimates of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, pyrotechnicians will need more than 5-7 years to clear mines throughout the country.

TSMC will start mass production of 3nm processors

In September 2022, TSMC will begin mass production of 3nm (N3) chips. In 2023, the company will start supplying chips to its customers.

Comparison of N5 and N3 technologies. Data: TSMC.

Compared to N5, N3 technology will increase performance by 10-15% for the same power and complexity and reduce die power consumption by 25-30% while maintaining frequency. In addition, the 3 nm process technology will increase the density of transistors by about 1.6 times.

N3’s FinFlex technology allows designers to mix and match different standard cell types in a single unit to precisely optimize performance, power consumption and footprint. It will be useful for complex products including CPUs and GPUs.

In the future, TSMC will launch N3E, N3P and N3S process technologies. The first will be optimization of N3, and the rest will be optimization of N3E for various classes of applications.

Tesla owners urged not to test autopilot on children

Tesla fan suggested Test the Fully Self-Driving (FSD) autonomous driving system on children. The Verge journalist asked him not to do that.

The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) also warned Tesla owners not to test the system on children.

The editor’s attention was caught by a video in which users tested FSD on minors: they were put on the road or asked to cross the road in front of them.

According to the authors of the videos, the drone accurately recognized children of different heights and slowed down.

NHTSA urged people not to risk their lives to test the workings of automotive technology. The department added that consumers should not recreate their own test scenarios in real life and should not involve anyone in it.

The Dawn Project had previously tested the technology on child-sized mannequins. Driving at 40 km/h on a straight road, Robocar did not recognize them and knocked them down.

In the coming months, Google will update Search to improve the quality of results.

According to the developers, the changes will lower the rating of clickbait headlines from aggregator sites to drive traffic through search engine optimization. Instead, the innovations will enhance the display of original and genuine references created by “people for people”.

The company will begin rolling out a “Useful Content Update” to English-speaking users on August 22. Changes to make it easier to find high-quality and original product reviews are coming in the coming weeks.

TikTok introduces background generator for video by text

TikTok introduced its AI green screen video-to-text background generator. The tool is available for Android and iOS users.

Compared to the photorealistic work of OpenAI’s DALL-E 2 model, the AI green screen algorithm produces rudimentary abstract images. According to The Verge, TikTok may have done this on purpose to avoid the risk of violating platform rules such as nudity or violence.

Google taught office robots to talk

Google has taught Alphabet office robots to understand commands in natural language.

The developers have equipped the prototypes of Everyday Robots with the PaLM model. Now, the robot says, “I spilled my drink, can you help me?” phrase, it will analyze the information via the built-in list of possible actions and interpret it as “bring me a sponge from the kitchen”.

Google said its PaLM-SayCan system allows devices to schedule correct answers to 101 queries 84% of the time and execute 74% of the time.

Stability AI Introduces Free Text Based Renderer

Startup Stability AI has given more than 1,000 researchers access to the Stable Diffusion text-based image generator. The public launch of the vehicle is planned for the coming weeks.

The system runs on high-performance hardware and generates images with a resolution of 512×512 pixels in a few seconds for any text query.

The company said the algorithm can generate images containing public figures, nudity, and even toxic content, which OpenAI’s DALL-E 2 model didn’t do because of the installed filters.

Researchers create robot from DNA

Scientists from the University of Montpellier have created a nanorobot from DNA. A human cell-sized instrument will help to study viruses and pathogens at the microscopic level.

The researchers used the DNA origami method by combining a robot from three deoxyribonucleic acid structures. They then attached the device to a molecule that recognizes the mechanoreceptor and learns how to activate it.

This helped scientists understand at what point in the application of force at the cellular level key signaling pathways are activated. In the future, the same can be done for other biological and pathological processes.

It’s the first man-made DNA-based self-assembly object that can apply and control forces with a piconewton resolution, the scientists said.

However, the researchers noted that the robot is susceptible to enzymes that destroy it, so it is necessary to figure out how to modify its surface and fix this vulnerability.

US to open first fully robotic restaurant

On August 28, 2022, Mezli will open a healthy food restaurant in San Francisco (USA) controlled by robots without human intervention.

The devices can portion ingredients, put them in paper bowls, heat and serve to customers. The company said the restaurant is capable of processing about 75 orders per hour.

In addition to the ready meals on the menu, customers can prepare a plate from the ingredients they choose. In total, there are about 64,800 possible combinations.
