On April 11, Roskomnadzor restricted access to the ForkLog website from the territory of the Russian Federation without prior notice. This happened shortly after our editorial on the massacre of civilians in Ukraine was published.

Since February 24, many independent media and social networks have been blocked in Russia. We were ready for such a development and we will continue to work.

The reason for the blocking was the decision of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation in accordance with the article “Dissemination of unreliable socially important information” dated April 5. In fact, we are blocked for doing our journalistic duty – we speak the truth and call it war war. The modern Russian state considers such activity a crime.

In the face of stringent censorship and digital surveillance, knowledge about decentralized technologies is more important than ever to our readers – and we won’t leave you for anything. Now we will tell you how to stay in touch with us.

I’m from Russia and I want to read ForkLog. What should I do?

Install and activate VPN

If you haven’t installed and activated a VPN yet, now is the time to do it. Lucky for us, there are many services and plenty to choose from – here’s the list. It is recommended to install several applications at once, as the most popular ones are almost certainly blocked or will begin to be blocked in the near future.

It is important that you install a VPN as a browser extension or app on both your phone and PC.

Of course, you can also find us excitement, on Facebook and Instagram and YouTube. Probably, soon our VKontakte page will also be blocked or deleted, but here is the link – just in case.

Add to browser bookmarks in our mirror

At the same time, read up-to-date materials on how to circumvent censorship and stay in touch with loved ones even after the Internet is completely shut down (follow link).

Download and Install Anonymous Tor Browser

Tor Browser is an anonymous browser that ensures user privacy. Roskomnadzor has blocked the service, but it can work using bridges.

Pre-request hyperlinks via the @GetBridgesBot telegram bot and add them to the browser. In some cases Tor can be slow, but it may be the only option that works.

The Brave browser also has the ability to open a private window via Tor – just download it just in case.

Censorship is scary. I want to know as much as possible about how to deal with this.

Our colleagues in the independent media, who were blocked before us, have already prepared detailed instructions. Here is just a small list:

For a long time?

To be honest, we don’t know. But there are no special prerequisites for optimism in the short term, so distribute this material to as many people as possible. If you are afraid to share it again on social networks, send it to your friends in private messages.

Like our colleagues in blocked publications, we are not sure that they will be fined for republishing our material in wartime conditions – the quirks of Russian legislation are hard to predict. Therefore, we have to warn you about reposts to decide for yourself.

But no one can forbid you to read us and think for yourself.

Sooner or later the black line of history will end. Keep that in mind and take care, our editors will ensure you are always up to date with the world of cryptocurrencies and decentralized technologies.
