In May 2021, crypto platform Crypto.com accidentally transferred $10.5 million to a Melbourne woman instead of returning $100. Reported by Ticker News.

The erroneous transaction was detected more than seven months later as a result of the year-end audit.

The platform sued for a refund. During the hearing, a representative of Crypto.com explained the error in the transfer, saying that the employee entered the account number in the payment field instead of 100 dollars.

However, before the company tried to return the money, the buyer and his sister bought a luxury mansion with a gym and cinema in the suburbs of Melbourne.

The judge decided to sell the property and return the remaining money to the platform.

Recall that in January Crypto.com sponsored the men’s and women’s soccer leagues in Australia. The company stated that Australian women’s interest in digital assets was affected by the deal.

In March, it became known that the platform will become the official sponsor of the World Cup in Qatar.
