Former Commissioner CFTC Jill Sommers has joined the Board of Directors of FTX US Derivatives cryptocurrency exchange. This was reported by company representatives.
Sommers is currently a Senior Advisor to Patomak Global Partners, a board member of the Ethics and Compliance Initiative and the non-profit Every Wins!! DC. Previously, he served two consecutive terms as CTFC Commissioner until July 2013.
Sommers has experience in the derivatives industry, including director of policy and head of government relations. ISDA and General Manager for Regulatory Affairs CME.
FTX US Derivatives, formerly known as LedgerX, has provided investors with 24/7 crypto options and swap contracts since its launch in 2017. Their offerings include physical settlement of all contracts, block and algorithmic trading opportunities for institutional investors.
Recall that in 2019, LedgerX obtained an authorized derivatives market license from the CFTC.
In August 2021, the American subsidiary of the FTX bitcoin exchange acquired LedgerX.
