Carlyle Group co-founder David Rubenstein talked about personal investments in crypto companies in an interview with CNBC and was optimistic about the prospects for the industry despite the current market plunge.

The billionaire stated that his self-confidence stems from the younger generation’s desire to innovate.

“Teens tend to have the intelligence and energy to initiate trends. These aren’t seventies people saying, “Let’s get into personal computers,” Rubinstein said.

The investor also expressed hope that government regulation will positively affect the development of the industry and not slow down innovation.

“Cryptocurrency supporters in Congress are very strong and generally quite Republican and libertarian. “The industry is unlikely to be strong enough when dealing with legislators,” Rubenstein said.

In May 2021, the billionaire denied the disappearance of cryptocurrencies and stated that they will remain a part of the financial landscape for years to come.

He reiterated his claim that “some investments in blockchain and crypto-related things will probably be with us for a while.”

In March, the billionaire revealed on his Colossus podcast that he’s investing in industry service companies, not digital assets.

In an interview with CNBC, he did not disclose which specific crypto companies he invested in.

Declaration Partners, the investment advisor to the Rubenstein family office, is known to be involved in a $200 million round for NFT startup Immutable in March. In April, the firm backed infrastructure provider Paxos in a $300 million Series D round.

Recall that, according to Messari and Dove Metrics, the volume of venture investments in blockchain startups in the first half of 2022 exceeded $30 billion.
