According to Ethernodes, 72.6% of Ethereum nodes are ready to merge before the planned September 6 Bellatrix upgrade.

Data: Ethernodes.

The upgrade is seen as the first phase of blockchain migration to the Proof-of-Stake (PoS) algorithm. Bellatrix will prepare Beacon Chain’s “signal mesh” for the merger process.

Tim Beiko, one of the main developers, urged node operators who did not update the software to the current version to do so before updating.

“If you are using an Ethereum client that has not been updated to the latest version, the front fork will sync with the blockchain after the upgrade. According to the old rules, you will be stuck in an incompatible chain and will not be able to send ether or transact on the network after the merger, the Ethereum Foundation said.

The predominant share of nodes not ready to join is explained by the most popular Geth client. The post-merge version of the software supports both the “execute” and “consensus” network layers.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin also addressed node operators:

The merger is expected to take place on September 13-15. The Bellatrix hard fork, which will prepare the chain for The Merge, will take place today. However, it is important – be sure to update the clients!

Bellatrix activation is expected to occur at 14:34:47 (Kyiv/Moscow) epoch 144 896. The next part of Unification is called Paris.

A number of cryptocurrency platforms have announced the suspension of Ethereum support during a large-scale update (AntPool) or restrictions on certain transactions (Coinbase, Binance).

Recall that ForkLog’s tutorials discussed how the transition from Ethereum to PoS will take place, what changes and new upgrades await the network.
