Franklin Templeton, which manages more than $1.4 trillion in assets, announced the launch of an exchange-traded fund (ETF) focused on the metadatabase. This is stated in the press release.

European investors will have access to the Franklin Metaverse UCITS ETF. The tool will replicate the dynamics of the Solactive Global Metaverse Innovation Net Total Return Index. It consists of companies with significant influence in the virtual worlds segment, including Blockchain applications (Block, Galaxy Digital, Electronic Arts).

The new ETF will be traded on Deutsche Börse Xetra on September 7 and on Borsa Italiana and the London Stock Exchange on September 9.

The company stated that they are betting on the metaverse and blockchain because of the possible “profound impact on society and global economic growth.”

The investment firm and Illuminate Financial previously spearheaded an additional Series A funding round for cryptocurrency storage infrastructure provider Curv.

In July 2021, Franklin Templeton backed Galaxy Digital’s $33.75 million crypto fund.

In the fall, the company opened vacancies related to cryptocurrencies, an analyst and a trader.

Recall that at the end of 2021, asset manager ProShares filed an application with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to launch an ETF focused on metadata.
