Mining activities in Russia should be allowed only to legal entities. This was stated by the head of the State Duma Committee on the financial market, Anatoly Aksakov, in an interview with Izvestia.

He also believes that the mining of cryptocurrencies should be done in energy-abundant regions.

“Only legal entities should engage in mining – it should be a regulated business,” the MP said.

Aksakov also proposed to regulate the taxation of cryptocurrencies by comparison with the “financial segment”:

“In the case of mining, I believe taxation should be close to what is established in the market for goods and services: VAT and income tax should be introduced.”

According to the MP’s expectations, the document will be presented to the State Duma in May.

Recall that the definition of mining and the basic mechanisms for its regulation are described in the bill of the Ministry of Finance “About digital currency”.

In early April, the revised bill was sent to the government.

Earlier, the Department of Energy had stated that allocating sites for mining would be more appropriate at the regional rather than the federal level. At the same time, the representative of the Ministry of Finance, Aleksey Yakovlev, said that banning cryptocurrency mining at home is pointless.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation proposed creating an experimental legal regime for the production of cryptocurrencies.
