Montenegrin authorities granted citizenship of the country to the creator of Ethereum Vitalik Buterin. This was reported by the local edition of RTCG with reference to the Ministry of Finance and Social Security.

Journalists noted that the entrepreneur received citizenship at the initiative of Montenegrin Prime Minister Zdravko Krivokapic and Finance Minister Miloiko Spaic. Authorities also released a photo of Buterin posing with a new passport and Spaich.

The Ministry of Finance expressed the hope that the creator of Ethereum, as the most famous person in the industry, will contribute to the promotion of Montenegro and contribute to the development of the industry in the country. The officials also emphasized that they regularly invite various experts in the field of digital assets:

“Cooperation with them is of particular importance for the development of the Montenegrin economy, attracting investment and creating high-paying jobs.”

The agency noted that the government is trying to establish a legal framework for the implementation of blockchain technologies.

Earlier, Vitalik Buterin transferred 1,500 ETH to support Ukraine and stated that the main purpose of cryptocurrencies is to benefit people. According to him, the Ethereum network could become a platform for “socio-political experiments” and counter authoritarian governments.
