According to August results, mining company Greenidge Generation has mined ~301 BTC. According to a press release, the total since the beginning of 2022 was 1,771 BTC.
On the 31st, the company’s fleet consisted of approximately 24,500 miners with a total hashrate of ~2.4 EH/s.
According to the announcement, Greenidge Generation has taken approximately 5,000 older and less efficient devices (0.3 EH/s) offline.
“Operation time [на предприятии в Дрездене, штат Нью-Йорк] It was 100% in August and 99.9% in eight months,” he said.
The company’s mining data center is located in the hybrid power plant. The work of this object has caused complaints from local activists and environmentalists, who are confident about its negative impact on the environment.
In 2022, the New York Supreme Court dismissed the environmentalists’ lawsuit against Greenidge.
But in early June, environmentalists and New York City Council member Anna Kelles urged Governor Kathy Hokul to revoke the company’s mining permit.
Kelles has launched a bill that imposes a two-year moratorium on cryptocurrency mining using electricity generated from carbon sources.
At the end of April, the document was supported in the lower house of the State Legislature, and on June 3, in the Senate. The bill is signed by the governor.
Greenidge Generation has revised its expansion plans to Texas against the backdrop of a $107.9 million loss in the second quarter.
