Starbucks has partnered with Polygon in a Web3 initiative to expand its customer loyalty program. This is stated on the project’s blog.
Beginning September 12, customers and partners can join the Starbucks Odyssey waiting list. It is scheduled to be released at the end of 2022.
“This new experience […] It will enable Starbucks Rewards members and Starbucks partners (employees) in the United States to earn and purchase digital collectible stamps in the form of non-replaceable tokens (NFTs),” Polygon said.
According to TechCrunch, users will be able to play interactive games or solve puzzles to learn more about coffee or the company itself. For the completion of the so-called “journeys”, they will receive NFTs, each of which provides bonuses on the establishments of the network.
“As a leading infrastructure provider, […] Polygon provides the perfect launchpad for Starbucks to get into Web3,” said co-founder Sandeep Nailwal.
