Coinbase Wallet developers said that no new version of their app will be released until Apple agrees to pay a 30% transaction fee through its payment system.
“Apple claims that 30% of the gas needed to ship NFTs must be paid through their In-App Purchase system in order for them to receive it. [комісії] from commission,” Coinbase wrote.
Coinbase representatives tried to convey to Apple that this is technically impossible, because such transactions take place on the basis of the blockchain, whose technology is not supported by the App Store payment system.
“The biggest impact of this change has been on iPhone users with NFTs. […] “Apple has made the process of transferring them to other wallets and giving them to friends or family much more difficult,” the statement said.
Coinbase assumed this was a mistake on Apple’s part and called for negotiation.
MetaMask co-founder and former Apple employee Dan Finley has criticized the tech giant for “abusing its monopoly”. At most, he said his company is ready to leave the Apple ecosystem if the AppStore doesn’t change its mind.
