Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has launched a beta version of its own immutable token (NFT) platform for a limited number of users.

At the first stage, Ethereum-based tokens are available. Sanchan Saxena, Vice President of Product at Coinbase, told The Block about the NFT market’s plans to add support for other blockchains.

According to him, users will be able to use any wallet, including Coinbase Wallet and MetaMask. For a limited time, the platform will not charge transaction fees.

Users will have to pass KYC– verification to use the marketplace. At the time of writing, only Ethereum is available as payment, later the company will add ways to deposit fiat. Among the latter, it was announced that NFTs were purchased using Mastercard debit cards.

Update:

With the launch of the Coinbase NFT marketplace, the price of the native 0x Protocol (ZRX) token rose 55% to $1.18. The project will help the platform optimize gas costs.

Coinbase first announced that it plans to launch an immutable token platform in October 2021. Since then, more than 1.5 million users have signed up for the waiting list.

Recall that in April 2022, Coinbase announced that it had published a series about NFT from the Bored Ape Yacht Club collection. The first episode is scheduled to air in June.
