French President Emmanuel Macron “does not believe in a self-regulated financial sector” and therefore supports a bill to regulate cryptocurrencies. Mica. The politician stated this in an interview with The Big Whale.

“I don’t believe in a self-regulating financial industry. It will not be sustainable and democratic. It is the duty of public authorities to determine the right conditions that will enable the sector to develop with confidence and encourage innovation.”

In March 2022, the European Parliament’s Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs unanimously adopted MiCA. Further discussion of the bill will take place at the level of the European Council and the European Commission.

The French President also supported the idea of creating a digital euro. According to him, the implementation of the MiCA law will enable further progress in this regard.

Macron described the Web 3.0 industry as “an opportunity not to be missed”. According to him, France and Europe have a chance to be the pioneers of the “next generation internet”.

At the same time, the politician said that the high speed of technology development creates a digital gap between “owners of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, blockchain” and those excluded from this system.

Macron has long advocated the active use of blockchain in France. He stated that in 2019, the introduction of distributed registration technology in agricultural products supply chains will allow the country to compete with the Russian Federation.
